During the city's annual Culture Night in October, Copenhagen comes alive with entertainment and adventures for people of all ages. Museums, libraries, educational establishments, theaters, musical venues, churches, and many other institutions representing art and culture host events throughout the evening, offering a journey through the city's cultural life.

Carlsberg Brewery Headquarters hosts several events during Culture Night. To heighten anticipation, draw attention, and attract more visitors, they decided to temporarily light the headquarters and surrounding building throughout the event and during the week leading up to it. Philips Lighting Denmark recommended using Philips Color Kinetics ColorReach Powercore LED floodlights to drench the 288 ft (88 m) high building with fun and festive colors. They also lit the one of the old Carlsberg buildings with ColorGraze Powercore LED grazing fixtures.

Although Denmark's northerly location brings long nights during a significant part of the year, few monuments, building, bridges, and other structures use exterior architectural lighting. The temporary installation at Carlsberg Brewery Headquarters demonstrated how lighting can support brand identity while harmonizing with Nordic taste and traditions.
